The AME Zion Church in Van Wyck had it’s meager beginnings in a White Oak Grove on the Vaughan plantation in 1861. The members fellowshipped and glorified God under a “Bush Arbor” until their attendance grew. A small building was erected, then a larger church was build in 1905. The present church was built in 1922, and since then has had many improvements for convenience and modernization.
